Forty years after the Great Chicago Fire, the Fire \u00a0Marshals Association of North America (today known as the International Fire Marshals Association), \u00a0decided that the anniversary should be used as an occasion to raise awareness about the importance of \u00a0fire prevention.<\/p>\n<p>The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)\u2019s theme for Fire Prevention Week 2016, \u201cDon\u2019t wait-check the date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 years\u201d encourages the public to make sure their smoke \u00a0alarms are in working order.
